So, I made it all through last week eating healthy. It was actually pretty easy and I felt fantastic. The goal is to shoot for that pretty much every weekday and then loosen up a bit on the weekends.
It's only Tuesday, but so far so good for this week!
I've got my meal prep for lunches down pat, but I would like to focus on doing some meal prep for dinners, too. Too often, I just want something easy, so, I'll cook some eggs with veggies and call it meal. Healthy and easy, yes. But, I could definitely do better.
Baby steps.
My running over the weekend, wasn't quite so good. I had wanted to get in a decent 10 miler for a last long run before my race, but.... I didn't.
Thoughts on my upcoming marathon in another post this week...
run, rest, eat, bitch, buy things, cross-train, blog, repeat.

Day 2 Recap (5 Day Reset)
Ok. So, I think posting pictures of my food everyday for 5 days would be completely boring and really... you don't really fucking care what I'm eating. So, yeah. I'm not going to do that the rest of the week.
BUT, I am going to try to update everyday on how I'm doing. That accountability thing and all. Ugh.
So, yeah, day 2, I ate pretty much the exact same thing as day 1 and it was easy again. My lunch really does fill me up and I took a play from The KoB's book and I had a small snack before I left work. That way, I wouldn't want to eat the entire fridge while making dinner. Worked pretty well, I think.
The food is good. Ya know? And honestly, my lunch is quicker to make than my previous lunch, so, that's a bonus. So, honestly, I can't help but feel a little like.. how in the hell did I get so off the wagon, ya know? But, whatever, I'm back on and I'm feeling good. I'm sleeping fantastic (although, since the new job, I've slept like a baby almost every night, so, really, that was never a problem).
I also feel like I'm a little more clear in the head. Could entirely psychosomatic, but hey... I'LL TAKE IT!
Day 2, still doing well.

Day 1 Recap (Five Day Reset)
So, the first day was a huge success!
(Not pictured the cup of coffee I had with heavy cream and stevia when I first woke up).
I started the day off with a juice from a juice place that is super close to my office. I always get the same thing: Mean Greens. It's got jalapeno in it, so it's spicy. So good. (All veggies, no fruits).
Then I had a mid-morning snack, which, honestly, I'm going to get rid of moving forward. When I was healthiest, I went right through the morning without a snack and just had a good lunch. So, hopefully this will be the last of the "morning snacks." Today it was strawberries and dollop of sunbutter.
I'm really trying to focus on eating healthy fats. I think more than anything, fat keeps me satiated.
In an effort to try to break my coke zero/diet dr pepper fix, I've been drinking a crapton of green tea.
So, for my lunch (that looks disgusting in photos, by the way), I prepared a huge pot of quinoa and steamed kale and a big pan of roasted sweet potatoes over the weekend to make my lunches with. So, this is spinach, quinoa and kale, roasted sweet potatoes, red bell peppers, and a squirt of Bragg's Liquid Aminos (which I LOVE) and a little container of guacamole (no weird ingredients in it). I mixed all that together and it was DELICIOUS and filling. Healthy food can be really good food. Sometimes we forget that.
I caved around 3:00 and had a coke zero. Womp Womp. And (not pictured) a little bit of sunbutter. Holy Crap that stuff is delicious.
Also not pictured, I had a vega protein shake when I got home and made dinner. (Just mixed it with water).
And for dinner, (why does my food always look disgusting?) we made an egg scramble with squash, a small potato, onions, and garlic. And then I ate mine on a bed of spinach with salsa. It was DELICIOUS.
A great first day, moving forward, I'm going to try to eliminate the morning snack and just eat it with my lunch and I probably don't really need the protein shake before dinner, unless I'm just incredibly hangry.
I went to bed feeling good and had a great night's sleep. Looking forward to day 2!!

5 Day Reset
So, for the past couple of years, I have been absolutely obsessed with food and dieting and losing weight. It's terrible. All my mind thinks about is food. And then based on whatever choices I make from there on, my mind is riddled with guilt (if it was something bad) or consumed with thoughts of what I can eventually eat (if it was something good for me).
It's exhausting and depressing and it's a no win situation. I've been here before in my life. Many times, sadly. And I know The KoB and all my friends are sick of hearing me say... ok... THIS IS IT. MONDAY, I'm starting XYZ diet. And that lasts about a week and then I'm right back at square one.
I am SO OVER it. I just want to FEEL good again. I want to feel well rested when I wake up in the morning, I want to feel light on my feet as I go through my day. I want to have healthy BMs and not be so bloated and feel so gross all the time. I want my brain to be clear and less foggy. Basically, I want to be how I was back in 2012-2013.
After 32-33 years of constantly worrying about my weight and obsessing over food, I was finally at a place where I felt fantastic, was the lightest weight I'd ever been, and most importantly, I was (mostly) mentally clear of the food obsession that had always dominated my life. It was a glorious time and that's where I want to go back to.
So, for the next 5 days, I'm going to try to reset my brain back to that time. (I realize 5 days isn't enough, but it's a good start). I'm going to try to mimic how I was eating back then and see if I can't get to that mental peace and healthy feeling.
And even though it's DIRECTLY opposed to my main goal (because I think it just encourages the food obsession), I know I need the accountability for this first week, so, I'm going to document it everyday this week here on the blog.
If you've had or have a food disorder or any food obsession problems, please, skip this blog for the rest of the week. Come back next week for our regularly programmed animal gifs and rants.
Another disclaimer, with the upcoming posts, I am not advocating or suggesting that anyone else do this. I just know that this has worked for me in the past and I'm tapping into that for my guidance on my nutrition. Everyone is different and what works for me, may not work for you. Blah blah blah.
Okay, here go!
