When we were first acquainted on July 10, 2007, I picked you up. You seemed clean and bright and there was something just so fresh and yet comfortable about you, all at the same time. But, I wasn't sure I needed you. I didn't know how well you would work out. But, after our first outing, I never headed out for a run without you. You kept the sun out of my eyes and the sweat off my brow. It was a perfect match. You, the specially made for runners visor and me, the heavy-sweating runner. We went together like peanut butter and jelly, like ben and jerry.
But, as the summer sun faded and I started running in the early mornings… I didn’t need you anymore. You hung from my closet door handle for months. Neglected…. Dusty… Begging to be taken out again.
And then finally spring was here, and you accompanied me on many runs preparing for the Eugene Marathon. And when it was time to pack for my trip to Oregon…. You were right there with me.
Yes, we’ve been through a lot. Every morning, when I get in from my run, you are completely sweat drenched and it takes you almost all day to dry out… but, you do and you’re ready for the next morning.
It came to my attention the other morning, however… And, well, it’s hard for me to say this… considering all we’ve been through… but… frankly… you freaking stink. I hadn’t really noticed how nasty and dirty you were until as I putting you on, a vile smell came to my attention. I brought you closer to my nose and almost fainted right there. Damn, visor, you STINK. It was at that moment that I actually took a second to look at you…. and wow… how did I not notice that you were freaking filthy?? I mean, I guess I just got so comfortable that I didn’t notice, ya know? I’m sorry. I’m sorry I neglected you beyond repair.
So, it’s time for a fresh start. Time for a new visor. I thank you for your commitment, but it’s time for me to move on. Maybe I’ll even try a different color this time…. Just to mix it up a bit, but even if I do opt for another white one… I’ll never forget you… my first.
Love,
Amy
And now... if you'll indulge me... some memories... (Cue: Boyz II Men song: "End of the Road").
Ohhh... So clean and pretty when we first met...
The first of many of our trips together, even in the South Alabama heat you kept my forehead dry.
Oh yes... you always loved those trails at Percy Warner Park
It was just you and me, those long 5 hours together in Eugene...
This photo was just taken a few weeks ago... on what has turned out to be your last trip.
So long friend... there will be other visors in my future, but I'll always hold you dear...

HaHa. That is freakin hilarious! My hat doesnt look like that yet, but when it does, I'm switching over to a visor!
Very funny. That last picture totally convinced me you made the right decision.
Poor visor...he didn't even get the chance to see a washing machine...hahahhahahaha
That was funny!
