Back to it...

Since the marathon... I've had knee issues, calf issues, rain issues, and snooze button issues. Sure, I've been running... but only like 3-4 miles at a time. I'd have intentions to do 5-6 miles, but I'd end up sleeping an extra 20 minutes, or having knee issues and bagging the run early.

Until this morning.

I set it up perfectly. #1 I got to bed EARLY. Like, literally, when I got into bed to read, it wasn't completely dark yet outside. How sad is that? Pretty damn sad. But, it's the sacrifice you make for a good run the next day. And because of this... I didn't hit the snooze button but popped up out of bed immediately when my alarm went off. #2 I drank 70 ounces of water between the time I got home from work and went to bed. Sure, I felt like I was going to throw up while I drank the last 4 ounces, but being hydrated always helps my runs.

I got up and put my running shorts on and then turned the tv on to see what the temp was before I decided what top to wear. Lately, it's been around 48-52 in the mornings for my runs. Perfect shorts and short sleeves weather.

I turned the tv to the local weather channel and it said that the temperature was 71. Whoa? That must be the high for the day... so I changed to another station... current temperature 72. Yikes. That's the warmest it's been for one of my runs in a LONG time. I thought to myself... well, if I can just get in 4, I guess that's okay. Maybe I can try for 6 tomorrow morning.

But you know what? It was a great run. It was hot and I sweated like crazy, but I felt like I had my mojo back. I definitely ran slower (because of the heat and the humidity) and I think that helped. The run flew by and while I did have sporadic pain in my knee, I found that if I tried to strike more on my heel with that foot, that the knee pain went away.

So, I got one of my 6 milers for the week out of the way...
