Marathon Training Cramming Weekend 1 Recap

As I declared last week, I am running a marathon in less than 20 days. So, operation, CRAM ALL THE MILES IN BEFORE THEN has officially started.

So, in an effort to get into shape quick (hahahhahahhahah). I ran two back-to-back longish runs. I ran 12 on Saturday and 14 on Sunday. (I tried to only run 12 on Sunday, but Liz was being a real bitch good friend and urged me to keep going for a couple of miles).

Overall for the week, I ended up with just over 35 miles. Not bad, but not great.

I'm fully aware that this Marathon in a couple of weeks is going to suck hard. And it's all my fault. But, I am enjoying running so much now that jogging/walking/crawling through a marathon doesn't really sound all that awful. OMG.

See, my method of training for this marathon is: do my usual crossfit training....then be miserable for 4+ hours in a couple weeks. I literally haven't run more than a mile except for when I did 20 a couple weeks ago for Red Rock Relay. We'll be fine...

I just got cleared yesterday to try running (as long as there's no pain), so tomorrow morning, I will likely start the Amy's Abbreviated Marathon Schedule myself, though I'll have 4 weeks and 3 days -- waaaaay more time than you! ;)

Sounds a lot like a lot of my training plans.

Vandy-Montana: 4+ hours might be optimistic for me. Save me some beer at the finish, dude.

Ann: Thanks! It felt like a lot of running. Ha!

Carina: YAY!!! So glad you are cleared for running. Hoping it goes pain-free for you. I bet you bounce back into shape quicker than you think you will!

Gracie: If only I was 1/4 as talented of a runner as you.
