This actually could be good motivation...
hmm...
Here's the deal.
This week: at least 3 miles a day, 4 days a week. 1 long run of 9 miles. For a minimum of the week of 21 miles.
Next week: at least 4 miles a day, 4 days a week. With a long run of 11 miles. Total: 27 miles
3rd week: at least 5 miles a day, 4 days a week. With a long run of 11 miles. Total: 31 miles.
And then after that, I will start to mix up the mileage a bit during the week and start slowly increasing my long run a bit.
It sounds sad and ridiculous and like such low mileage. But, when you are coming from the mindset of just skipping runs whenever you wanted... it's sooooo easy to come up with some excuse to skip an hour run. BUT, the idea of just running for 30 minutes, is like... not a big deal. So, I'm hoping that that slowly gets me back in the habit of running.
Also, I'm trying to do the afternoon running again. My life is a lot easier when my little muskrat of a dog gets a nice long walk in the mornings, so, I'm going to dedicate my mornings to him and do my running in the evenings.
It's true.
I can be a real asshole in the mornings.
Here's hoping. I used to be SUPER consistent about my running. So, I know I can get there again, I just have to really put forth an effort.
Any tips for getting back into a consistent running routine would be appreciated!!

Think I'll read along for the tips. I guess I'm still fairly consistent, but I also seem to be unwilling to put forth any significant effort, which means I'm just getting slower and slower... Your schedule sounds good!
Totally agree that a half-hour commitment is no big deal, but an hour can be discouraging!
I think you have a great plan of attack.
Tips for staying consistent, or getting out the door...
I guess I'm shallow but, have you treated yourself to any new gear or running clothes lately? Sometimes a new bra, socks or a few new running tops help make running more enjoyable.
I'm a runner on a budget, so I sometimes shop at consignment shops for brand newish running tops.
Another super lame tip. Before the age of the Garmin, I used to write my miles down on a plan old calendar. Adding a 2, 3, or 4 was always better than adding a 0, unless it's a planned rest day.
Hope you find your groove.
