Week in Review

So, while I'm not "training," I'm still looking to get as many miles as I can squeeze out of a week during tax season. Because, if I haven't mentioned yet in this post.. the GRAND CANYON is about 2 months away and if I don't keep up with my mileage, The KoB is going to be very unhappy with me, because it might look a little bit like this...
Which would make for an awkward flight home.

So, my mental goal is to shoot for about 40 miles during the work week (with some doubles) and then something longer on the weekend. I was just short of that last week and I took two days off. So... whatevs. I'm doing the best I can.

Runs of note:
An impromptu Tempo Run on Wednesday.
The KoB and I run together on Wednesday nights and I just remember that run feeling like I was crawling and dying at the same time. I apologized like 3 times to The KoB about my slow as shit pace and finally near the end, he let me know that we weren't actually crawling, but that we were hauling ass (well, I was hauling ass, he was still at lollygagging pace). So, yeah. I was so freaking glad. Plus... I got to log something other than an "easy" run in my log! Boom.

Striders Long Run on Saturday.
Thankfully Liz was out there, so we set off together and I was quite militant from the beginning that I wasn't running any of the extra loops along the way. I knew that running a straight out and back would get me 15ish miles, and I was fine with that. (Background information: Thursday morning I woke up with a stuffy nose. Turns out my allergies were bothering me for the first time in about 10 years. W.T.F? By Saturday morning I had within the last 24 hours taken the following: benedryl, claritin, mucinex, alka seltzer. I was pretty sure that I was about 76% likely to die on the run).

Or wind up like this.

But, I survived! Barely. I mean, I didn't feel terrible, and to be honest, at one point towards the end, we started talking about shopping and clothes and I immediately pepped up and felt better. Note to The KoB, next time you pace me in a marathon... bring up shopping/clothes/fashion around mile 19. Hahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahah. Anyway, I felt so good, that at the end, instead of bailing, I kept running with Liz a bit to get over 17 miles. FINALLY.

After the long run, I stocked up on booze for St. Patricks Day and The KoB and I met up with a couple of the bitches for a happy hour with the million other drunk bastards out for St. Patty's Day.

Public Service Announcement: Red Door has 2 for 1's until 6 on Saturday.
Old Style's are $3. THAT'S TWO BEERS FOR $3!!
You're welcome.

We also had a random "celeb" sighting at Red Door:
That's Jake Owen for those of you who don't know.

After happy hour, this happened...

Um, yup. That's another box in the upper right hand corner.
Um. Yup. We destroyed 2 pizzas.

All-in-all it was a good week/weekend.

My shirt (in the picture with the Old Style beer) makes me dizzy.
