Coming up: Chicago Marathon

So... yeah... The Chicago Marathon is Sunday. And.. I'm super PUMPED. I've been excited about it all week... mostly just because Chicago is one of my favorite cities... but the last couple of days, I've started to get excited about the race, too...

So, to catch you up... unfortunately this will not be my friend/running buddy's first marathon. She has been struggling with an injury and is not running the race... Which totally bums me out. Especially since she basically did all the hard parts of training (next time you get injured... get injured after like the 10 mile long run... not the 18 or 20, for chrissakes!).

But... now... that leaves me kinda wide open...

Yes, my legs are probably still going to be a bit fatigued from last weekend...

No, I haven't trained to run fast...

Yes, it's probably going to get a little warm at the race...

But, I think I've decided to give it a try. Like.. a REAL try. I mean, the way I see it.. WHAT THE HELL DO I HAVE TO LOSE? I didn't spend months training my ass off to meet a certain goal (besides finishing), so I don't have that emotional attachment to any specific time. So, I'm just going to go out there and bust it up. And maybe I'll crash and burn (per usual) and end up finishing with a mediocre time or maybe I'll go out there and tear it up! Who knows? Who cares? Either way, I think Sunday is going to be a lot of fun!

See you on the otherside....

(And good luck to everyone racing this weekend, whether it's Chicago or another race!).

The greatest joy I ever had after finishing a race was my first, because my only goal was to finish the distance, and celebrate my awesomeness. Go out there and celebrate your awesomeness!!!
