Packing

So, I've packed for destination marathons, 50ks, pacing a friend for 18 miles of a 50 miler, 2 relays (as an OCD captain..which in my case, means that I make sure that I have anything and everything under the sun that someone might need. Oy)... and all of these required extensive lists... lists of what to buy, what to pack, etc...

But this weekend, I'm running what I think will be the most challenging race I've ever done and requires travel. And strangely enough.. THERE IS NO LIST. WTF?

It kinda happened casually... I got home from a trip to Newport, Rhode Island on Sunday morning and as I unpacked from that, I started throwing other stuff into a pile for this weekend. 3 sports bras, 4 pairs of socks, 4 pairs of running shorts... and then I started going through my various drawers and grabbing packages of gu and my handheld water bottle to pack, too. And before I knew it... my bag was pretty much packed. Yesterday I threw in some tshirts and things to wear around after the races, something to sleep in, swimsuits, towels, my shoes... and now all that's left is my toiletries!

I'm taking this as a good omen for the upcoming weekend... no need to stress and make lists and get all OCD all over the place... right??? No big deal... I'm just running 60 miles in 3 days on some wicked trails...

Now, of course, I'm running the risk that if I forget something I will become even more OCD about packing lists...

In a strange way... I'm actually REALLY looking forward to this weekend... I love the trails in Chattanooga and I'm excited to cross this race off the list... and see how challenging it can be to push my body like this... I leave tomorrow and the races start Friday...

I'm excited FOR you! Can't wait to hear all about it. I'll be running the Moon Pie for the 6th year which is nothing compared to your adventure... I'll be thinking of you!
