Onward and Upward

I can't help it.

I can spend weeks in a funk wallowing around in self pity after a disappointing marathon finish, but when I actually PR and feel good, I can't allow myself to bask in the glory. Nope, I'm just hungry for the next one.

So, here's the deal folks... typically, this is the time of year that I get lazy and fat. I've ran my spring marathon and training in the humid heat of Nashville for a summer marathon is just ridiculous... So, I'll continue with my running, topping out around 25-30 miles a week... eat cheeseburgers, french fries, and chicken nachos a few times a week and consume beers. And in this process gain probably 5-7 pounds. Thats Summer Amy from the past 2 years.

Or should I say, thats OLD Summer Amy. I've decided I'm not content with just running a spring marathon and a fall marathon and getting fat in the summer.

No sir, this year is going to be different. This year, I've signed up for an August 1 marathon. Which means, I'm already about 14/15 weeks out. What marathon, you ask?

I'm going to be running wit da griz at the Grizzly Marathon in Choteau, MT.

Boo-ya!

So, yeah... if the prospect of being chased by a grizzly bear during a marathon doesn't make me train hard, nothing will.

You are going to run a marathon in Montana! That is crazy!! I think its good you are already setting your sights on another marathon! Keep up the great work girl and hopefully new summer Amy will rock another big PR in August!

I know the feeling of wanting another race right away (and congrats again on the awesome PR), I love having something on the calendar. but Montana? do you know peeps out there, or do they really line the course with bears to help 'motivate' the runners. if bears are a part of the race, then I bet the race organizers must have to change DNF to DNS-CBB (did not survive-consumed by bears)

Congrats on the PR!! I enjoyed the race report down below. I'm glad it turned around at mile 16 and you got to run your own race.

Good luck with NEW Summer Amy.

I wish there were some summer half-marathons around here. What summer races are you going to work into your training? July fourth? There is a 10K here in Clarksville June 20. You can come school us Clarksville runners!

I am Always looking for races immediately after finishing ( don't always sign Up, but I always look...), because I feel the same way. it's too easy to fall off and not keep going - and comin' off a high like that you just want more! (Congrats, again!!!).

Montana? Really? Couldn't you have found a marathon any closer?

You forgot to mention the fact that you'll be eating rocky mountain oysters.
