Get out your cheese and crackers...

A brief synopsis of the past two days...

Rain... Rain... Cold... Rain... Hills....

So, yesterday turned into my rest day since it was raining and we all know I'm too dainty (lazy) to start a run in the rain.

I've been tracking the local radar like I'm Jim Cantore hoping and praying that I wasn't going to be FORCED to run in the rain today (two rest days in a row? can't happen). So when my alarm went off this morning at 5:20 and I could hear the rain outside my window, I used my new found meteorological skills and reset my alarm for 6:00, knowing that the rain was pushing out and would hopefully be gone by then.

Somebody get me a job at the weather channel, cause I was right. Boo ya.

Unfortunately... I had to be a clients that is 30 minutes away from my house at 8:30 am. And that didn't leave me much time to get a good quality run in... So, I opted out of the speed workout and did hills.

Dude. Let me just tell you... Hills SUCK. I don't know what it is... I used to have no issue at all with hills... I used to love them and now... now, I can barely sprint up the hill once... let alone 4 times. On my third repeat, I swear I was experiencing numbness in my upper extremities. I don't know what that means, but I considered that it might be a good enough reason to punk out at 3. I soldiered on, though. And they sucked. Sucky McSuckerson Sucked.

It's all apart of the process though... And I know it will pay off.

At this point... it's probably wise that you expect a couple of these whiny posts a week. The process of Amy becoming a hardcore, badass runner is going to be filled with lots of bitching from yours truly. (At least that's something I'm good at!).

Next up: Speedwork.

Looked back at my notes. Houston, we have an IT band problem.

Hills DO suck. Which hill are you doing? The one on Wedgewood?

How long of a distance are you running on the hills. I have noticed that decreasing the distance has helped me to somewhat enjoy hills instead of hating them (but they still do suck just a little less so).

Vandy-Montana: That pesky IT band. Wedgewood, yes... Sucky, sucky wedgewood. I'm too scared to try the 18th Vandy Frosh Hill.

J: The distance of the hill I do is .2 miles. If I weren't a total retard with meters and distances and such, I could figure out how far that is in meters... Is that too far? I vaguely remember picking the particular hill, because it's distance was what I read a hill workout should be, but I could have just made that up in my head. I'm open to any and all suggestions.

The hills will totally pay off. I happen to love hills. I have to: If I want to run outside by my house, I have to contend with hill after hill. Luckily, I really enjoy running hills. I feel tough!

Good luck!

I think your hill distance is perfect.

Oh I LOVE the bitching...I feel so at home! You know I feel the same way about the track as you do about the hills....by the 3rd track repeat Im a mess...stomach revolts....legs cry and scream...oh the horror...but you are right it all pays off in the end. Here's to some more whining and bitching and some fast hardcore and badass running :->

Im a freak about weather too....heaven forbid a few cold drops of rain land on my dainty head!!!
