Less Recovery, More Running

During the whole marathon training process, I kinda assumed that I'd train for 23 weeks, have the race of my life and then take a few weeks of just running around with my race shirt on (why yes, I DID run the Birmingham marathon, thanks for asking and now, let me tell you all about it. And by the way, my name is Braggy McBragerson)... ya know, essentially making every run a victory lap.

As you all know by now, the race of my life didn't happen and now when people ask me about the race, I'm all like... Ugh. Do I have to talk about this shit AGAIN?

Unfortunately, I don't have a cardboard tank that
I can just blow people away with when they ask.

So, no victory laps for me... and while I don't have much on my racing schedule, it is almost springtime and that's no time to just let my fitness go down the drain. So, I'm going to continue running as much as I can and try to see if my fitness can get me a 5K PR and a 10K PR and help me keep my sanity during this busy work season.

Last week, I hopped back on board the running train. I ran about 45 miles and got in a 16 mile long run. All the runs (with the exception of the long run) felt like shit on a stick because I ran them WAY too fast. Why is it that after a marathon, you always run wayyyyy too fast? It's like all your easy runs become your race pace. Maybe it's because THANK GOD YOU DON'T HAVE TO RUN 26.2 MILES AGAIN FOR A LONG TIME and you're body is just so fucking thrilled by that.

Anyway... we'll see what happens. I'm already DREADING racing the 5K and it's still WEEKS away. Ugh.
