Desperately Seeking Mojo...

I can't believe it's been a week since I've blogged. That's totally not like me, huh?

Let's catch up, shall we?

Saturday I ran 14.5 with Melanie and Matt. Which was both awesome and awful. Awesome because I got to tag along with two of my running buddies and get in that much mileage that I would have NEVER done on my own that day and awful because it was hot. And I didn't take any fluids and there weren't any water fountains. Sometimes Amy just isn't very bright.

To make matters worse... as soon as we got back to the car and finished our run, I tore into my gatorade bottle. I was gulping and slurping and then all the sudden I gagged and choked on something solid-ish. I spit it out. I looked in my bottle and was horrified to see mold floating in the top of my gatorade.

I've also gotten into a bad habit... I've started instituting the walk break. Like a lot. A lot more than I should be walking. And it sucks. I used to never do that. It's like I've broken the seal or something and when it used to be a last resort for me to take a walk break... now it's a standard procedure on any mileage over 10. Ugh. Must correct.

So, Vandy-Montana is in town. Which means... running hard and drinking hard. We've hit the bottle hard two nights and hit the pavement hard one morning (yesterday we did 12 at Percy Warner, including the 11.2 backwards!!) and I'm planning on hitting the pavement hard tomorrow morning, too. I'm hoping that his trip to town this week helps me get my running mojo back. I just can't seem to get those high mileage weekdays like I was a month ago. I got 12 yesterday and I'm hoping to get up early in the morning and get in 10-12, tomorrow, too.

Honestly... I think I'm still experiencing a little post race funkiness. I mean... all summer I was training for something big. I was training to run back-to-back marathons and then when that came and went and it was back to just regular ole running.. I lost my mojo. I have no direction. No plan. Sure, I'm signed up for a marathon in November. And sure I have relay in October. But... neither of those really compare to the back-to-back marathons.

I need a new challenge...

I keep forgetting that you're doing the monkey. I definitely think that sounds like a challenge for sure. BTW, if you guys want some company to get into some mischief Saturday night, I might be game. After running 20 that morning, I might need some fun. Not to invite myself out. I'm just saying I'll be around if y'all want extra company. :)

mold in your G, that is the worst mental image ever. I'm hopeful VM will kick start that running mojo and you'll be running past your old walk breaks in no time!

happy Friday.

I think I just threw up a little after reading about your gatorade...

Ignoring the grossness of your gatorade, I wouldn't beat yourself up too bad about the walking breaks, especially if you're doing the Main Drive around Percy Warner. That is a brutal run that humbles all but the craziest masochists. Keep the faith!

You crack me up. Walk breaks are totally like "breaking the seal". I'm older, so I need the break, but I try to keep it closer to 30 seconds, no more than a minute, and only every mile or two, unless it's stupid hilly.

A new challenge? Will be fun to see what you land on!
