Alright, so last night was the official weigh-in for weight loss competition between me and Vandy-Montana. And he hasn't even told me his results yet, but I know that I'm the loser, because all I've heard about for the last 8 weeks is how he's losing like 4 pounds a week or something. So, yes... I lost the challenge. I have to pay for his cheeseburger/s, fries, and milkshake/s after the race on Sunday.
But... the good news is... that all is not lost. I did manage to lose 6 pounds! Which I am very happy about it. And I learned a VERY valuable lesson. Trying to lose weight + the last 8-10 weeks of marathon training do not go hand-in-hand. Cutting back on calories (for me at least) can really only be done in the beginning of marathon training or between training periods. Running 50+ miles a week makes me an extremely hungry girl. But, despite that hunger, I have started eating more fruits and vegetables and making meals instead of eating sandwiches for dinner, etc. I'm hoping that after the race I can lose a few more pounds and get closer and closer to my ultimate goal.
Anyway, congrats Vandy-Montana. Well done, sir.
So, it's final taper week. And this morning I did my last actual "workout" type run until the race. I did 4x400s at 5k pace and felt pretty good. Tomorrow I will run 2 miles and then another couple miles on Saturday morning.
I'm not feeling as crazy as I usually do in this last week... I think it's because maybe I finally realize how important it is to let my body have this week of rest. In the past, I've doubted my training and wanted to sneak in extra miles... but I know that having fresh legs on Sunday is going to make a huge difference.
run, rest, eat, bitch, buy things, cross-train, blog, repeat.

I can't believe you pronounced defeat before the final results were tallied! I mean, you were correct, but jeez...
I am sure that you will do great Sunday! I like to run a little bit the day before a race, idk why but it just makes my legs feel ready!
congrats on the 6lbs gone, even if VM won. rest up and have a great race this weekend, can't wait to read all about it!
Woo hoo! Congrats on losing 6lbs! Even though you lost...its still awesome!
Congrats on the 6 lbs!!!! Thats still way impressive - I feel like (as weird as it may sound ) it's definitely hard to lose while you're training! Because you're hungry 100% of the time And there's a fine line between dieting and giving your body the fuel/nutrients it needs during hard-core training. SO - you're awesome. :)
You ready for this shit or what?
Best of luck this weekend! Though I'm certain you don't need it!
