Brisk

This morning, I woke up as usual and stumbled into my living room and turned the tv on to check the temperature before I got dressed for my run. Well, it was at this point, that I cussed Comcast and remembered that for some reason... my cable doesn't work when it's under 20 degrees. (Something I just confirmed this weekend).

I knew it was going to be cold... I was figuring something like 20 degrees or so, but that it would feel cooler, because the sun wouldn't be up until the very end of my run. So, I put on some UnderArmour Leggings, running shorts over them, and UnderArmour half zip top and I decided to throw on a sweatshirt over that (just in case). I also put on two pairs of gloves...

I stepped out of my place and into the stairwell and as soon as I got into my garage, I felt the cold and I briefly thought about turning around and going back inside. "Naw..." I said to myself. Once I get started, I'll be fine.

I kept telling myself that I've ran in colder weather... that this wasn't that bad. I mean, hell... if construction workers were going to work... I could definitely endure a little chilly weather.

But for the first mile, I had to channel my inner Beck Weathers. This worked... kinda. But, it also kind of freaked me out... I mean... my face was seriously colder than I could ever remember it being. I preserved though and by the mile 3 I was feeling okay and the sun was starting to make an appearance, which helped.

I was very curious to know the actual temperature though... and so as soon as I got into work this morning, I looked it up.

Temperature at 6am: 9 degrees with a windchill of 0.

Damn. I am one hardcore bitch. I mean... here I was outside running... dressed like it was 25 degrees when it actually felt like it was 0!!! It's actually probably a good thing that my cable doesn't work... otherwise I would have looked at the temperature and gone straight back to bed. But at least now I realize why I didn't see any other runners out this morning.

And... I guess I've got no excuses for not running when it's cold outside anymore...

I'm sure ole Beck was praying for 9 degrees...

You are way more hardcore than me, I don't think I could handle that cold, way to go!

You just need one of those Hannibal Lector looking face masks that has an opening for your eyes and some holes punched in to breathe :-)

Not that I got to such extremes - yay for the treadmill...
