Running in a Sauna

I have to question my sanity. What the hell was I thinking when I decided it was a good idea to train for a marathon during the summer months?

In Memphis?!?

Not smart.

I guess I forgot how miserable it was. was really important for me to run for MMRF- I've been planning on doing that for over a year, but I'm a wimp and running in 90+ degree weather just plain sucks. And the humidity? Yeah, I can run in the early morning or at dusk, but the air is so thick that I feel like I'm in a sauna. I can't even take a deep breath and um, breathing deep and running kind of go hand in hand. My first summer in Memphis, I swore I was developing asthma...and then fall came around and just like breathing returned to normal. I felt like Superwoman!

I've still got a run to get in tonight and honestly, I'm dreading it. It's almost 8:30PM and says that it's 85 degrees with 73% humidity...and the "feels like" temp is ninety-freakin-five. I gets no love.

Alright, alright...I'm done with my rant. Sorry to bring you down on a Friday evening, folks, but damn, its hot.

I'm with you on the dumbassedness of training for a marathon in a place with stupid humidity. DC is pretty unforgiving as well. At least you aren't suffering alone. :)

Nope, not suffering alone. I too train in the good ol' southern heat. I have to agree that Memphis gives no love and pretty much there is NEVER a good time to run, but hey it could be worse...we could be in the desert right?!

We have been blessed with a cool summer so far up here, but I imagine Memphis a sufferfest! Maybe run at a gym in the nice AC?

Trust me,we all live in crazyville for continuing to train during the hottest part of the year. Don't worry, you're in good company.
